May meeting and future plans

The May meeting at our usual venue, Taffs Well Rugby Club, went well. Despite a few people being on holiday, we welcomed some of our regulars and a couple of new faces, which was good to see.

The coffee and tea flowed and the cake was devoured while we planned a return to Taffs Well Rugby Club in June. Put the date in your dairy! Thursday, June 29, between 12pm and 3pm.

June will also hopefully see the launch of our petition to highlight the unfair treatment of Welsh and English workers diagnosed with pleural plaques. While compensation is still paid in Scotland and Ireland for this condition, nothing is done for those exposed in Wales and England.

We’re also planning a meeting in Swansea in July, which we hope to tell you more about soon.

April SWASG meeting and canal boat outing

For our latest meeting, the group met up on April 27th and it is fair to say that we all had a good time.

We had a chance to talk about what was going on in our lives and how our various asbestos-related conditions were affecting us, as well as discuss our plans to bring forward a petition aiming at getting compensation reinstated for those diagnosed and suffering with pleural plaques.
If you would like to hear some information regarding our plans for this petition, don’t hesitate to give Eddie a call on 07572 090 500.

The beginning of May also gave us the opportunity to join Gerry Slade and members of her support group on a wonderful canal boat trip through Gloucester.

We joined Gerry and her group on a lovely sunny day, although it det get a little chilly!

We can’t thank Gerry enough for extending an invitation to us, and we are more than looking forward to meeting up with her and the group in the near future.

As always, if you would like to get in touch with Eddie our group co-ordinator, you can call him on 07572 090 500, or send an email to swasg.wales@gmail.com. Eddie can keep you updated on any upcoming meetings and events, and answer any queries you might have about asbestos and how it can affect your health.
